Our aims are:

- to reduce crime and disorder in Thurrock by uniting the efforts and specialized local knowledge of residents as Group Members and by keeping our Police better informed of suspicious local activity [e.g., details of strangers behaving oddly, registration numbers, etc., of unusual cars involved, reports of other strange or disquieting events

- to reduce the incidence and effect of attempted crimes, and postal,phone and doorstep scams by spreading information and advice about good security practices;

- to increase the number of our Groups and the role of NhW in Thurrock;

- to cooperate with other bodies who have similar aims.

In pursuing our aims Thurrock NhW also:

- provides help and reassurance, reducing undue fear of crime;

- enables householders to get discounts on their home-insurance policies;

- promotes closer relations between the community and our Police service; and

- strengthens local community spirit.
